Digital switchgear
simulator
The challenge
Limited training scenarios
In the physical training setup, GWO instructors can only simulate a limited number of high-voltage scenarios. TS TECH wanted to challenge that by:
- Building training scenarios that could not be re-created on a live switchgear
- Letting trainees experience rare, hazardous, or conflicting scenarios in a risk-free environment
- Giving instructors a tool that adds structure, consistency, and repetition to their training sessions
Cadpeople designed and developed a digital switchgear simulator that stands out because it blends realistic safety‑critical training with scenario‑based simulation in a way that physical training alone cannot.
The digital switchgear is built as an add‑on to TS TECH's practical training courses and contains:
The solution
A digital switchgear simulator
A 1:1 realistic digital switchgear
A high-precision, photo-realistic 3D model allowing trainees to explore and train on a life-like switchgear.
Five scenario-based simulations
Each scenario mirrors actual workflows expanded with realistic faults within e.g. isolation, maintenance, LOTO, and reporting.
Different guiding levels
Trainees can choose the amount of help they need – from real-world conditions without any help to guiding steps along each task.
Quizzes
We have blended quizzes into the training scenarios for better understanding of procedures and steps throughout the simulations.
Built-in session logs
The simulator captures the trainee’s progressions and actions, enabling instructors to review performance and provide feedback.
We chose Cadpeople to develop our digital switchgear solution because they combine deep technical understanding with extensive experience in digitalization. As we deliver training solutions to an industry that demands the very highest standards, partnering with Cadpeople was a natural choice. Together, we successfully combined our physical training solutions with their digital expertise to create an innovative and engaging solution.

It is important to say that the digital simulator does not replace the physical training - it makes it better. With the new digital simulator, TS TECH can increase the trainees’ confidence, readiness, and procedural understanding before coming to a wind site, as they:
- Can train their high voltage competencies in a safe environment
- Get a stronger learning experience that merges simulation, reflection, and action
- Meet a consistent training standard, independent of instructor setup
- Can train and practise rare but critical situations repeatedly
The value
Simulation, reflection, and action
MEET THE TEAM
The x factor: why Cadpeople was the right partner
Partnering with TS TECH in developing a digital switchgear simulator, Cadpeople brought together a cross competencies team of:
- Learning Specialists that structured scenarios based on learning objectives and goals from GWO
- 3D Designers that built the realistic switchgear environment
- Simulation Developers that built and implemented the scenario logic and interactivity
- UI/UX Designers that ensured clarity, guidance, and seamless navigation throughout the scenarios
Looking ahead, Cadpeople can easily expand the switchgear simulator with new training scenarios making it a long term digital foundation for TS TECH’s training programs. We can also incorporate a digital or AI guided instructor to help the trainees throughout the scenarios.
