The background
Attracting and preparing the next generation of wind professionals
The wind industry plays a critical role in the green transition - but attracting new technicians and preparing the current professionals for the technical complexity of modern wind turbines remains a challenge in Europe.
Therefore, we wanted to create a digital learning solution that addresses two different target groups and two different needs:
Students at universities across Europe: The solution should act as a branding and awareness tool showing the importance, complexity, and future potential of working in the wind energy industry – and brand the wind industry as an attractive, high‑tech career path.
Wind turbine technicians: The solution should prepare technicians for the technical reality they will meet in their training and future work bridging the gap between theory and hands‑on GWO training.
DigiWind is a organisation that works to secure careers within wind. They support Europe’s green and digital transition by helping future wind energy professionals build advanced skills for tomorrow’s energy systems.
The client
Digiwind
What we’re building is, at its heart, an invitation. An invitation for guests to truly discover the Denmark they’ve travelled to, especially our beloved West Coast. We want to make it easier to find the experiences that shape a holiday, whether they’re planning from home or already on the move. And if the map inspires them to see so much that they can’t fit it all in… well, then we’ve given them the perfect reason to return
Finn Christensen, CEO, Feriekompagniet
We have developed a virtual, inspiring platform that sets itself apart from traditional travel guides by also highlighting lesser-known destinations and partnering with local attractions.
We have designed and developed a realistic 3D-animated map that vividly illustrates the beautiful nature and coastlines of Denmark.
The solution
Immerse yourself in your next holiday
Looking for inspiration
Four out of ten foreign tourists and every third Danish coastal and nature tourist seek inspiration for what they can experience when on vacation in Denmark.
Culture, food, and nature
Besides nature experiences, tourists seek culture, art, history, and culinary experiences too.
Good atmosphere
Some of the greatest travel motives are a good place to stay, trust, the area's nature experiences, the local atmosphere, and a friendly population in the local area.
Same areas
More than half of foreign tourists stay in the same area as the last time they were on vacation.

The x factor - from map to story
Sometimes the magic is in the method. For this project, we started with high-resolution maps from Google and stitched them together using a mix of websites and plugins. From there, we traced the coastlines with spline work in 3D to build the landform, and then mapped the stitched texture onto it.
The real challenge was getting the transition between land and sea just right. To achieve that, we hand-painted a displacement map using pen and tablet, so the shallow waters along the West Coast reveal their natural sand patterns beneath the surface. It’s a subtle detail, but it makes the whole map feel alive.
We didn’t invent new tech for this, but we did create a pipeline that let us build cities and villages quickly without losing accuracy. Iconic landmarks were modeled with care. In the end, it was about taking something as simple as a map and adding movement, depth, and character, so it tells a story, not just shows a location.
PSST… THERE’S MORE.
