The need for an overview of your next holiday
We travel more and more, and as a result, there are tons of travel blogs, websites, and apps that help, guide, and recommend attractions and experiences. The many guides present a world of possibilities and information – but what we need the most, is sorted information that we can overview and trust.
We have created and developed a virtual platform to serve as a visual inspiration universe filled with attractions, activities, and hidden gems along the Danish West Coast, bringing them to life digitally. The platform will assist visitors in planning and navigating the possibilities for their upcoming holiday.

MEET THE TEAM
The x factor - from map to story
Sometimes the magic is in the method. For this project, we started with high-resolution maps from Google and stitched them together using a mix of websites and plugins. From there, we traced the coastlines with spline work in 3D to build the landform, and then mapped the stitched texture onto it.
The real challenge was getting the transition between land and sea just right. To achieve that, we hand-painted a displacement map using pen and tablet, so the shallow waters along the West Coast reveal their natural sand patterns beneath the surface. It’s a subtle detail, but it makes the whole map feel alive.
We didn’t invent new tech for this, but we did create a pipeline that let us build cities and villages quickly without losing accuracy. Iconic landmarks were modeled with care. In the end, it was about taking something as simple as a map and adding movement, depth, and character, so it tells a story, not just shows a location.
